As I believe that the Indonesian kitchen is a bit underappreciated, I’ll be sharing with you some recipes to show you how easy it actually is to prepare yourself.
This sambal goreng tempe recipe is a bit spicy, vegan and of course super yummy!
Preparation time: 30 min
For 4 persons you need:
- White rice
- 350 grams tempe
- 400 gram green beans
- 1 small onion
- 1 garlic clove
- 2 table spoons sweet soy sauce
- optional: 1/2 a teaspoon of trassi (shrimp paste)
- 1 chili
- 1 table spoon sambal
- 1 teaspoon Laos powder
Start by heating the oil and frying the small tempe pieces for 5 minutes. Take them out, and add some new oil and start with the onion, garlic and trassi. After 3 minutes you can add the sambal, sweet soy sauce, chili, laos and the beens. I usually use frozen beans and add a bit of water to make them boil and lightly cook. Add the tempe to the pan and stir it all together. When the beans are done, serve with white rice and enjoy!
